Vintage Franciscan "Apple Pattern" Covered Butter Dish. Made in the U.S.A. They were introduced in 1940, Franciscan Apple is a beautiful earthenware pattern featuring hand-painted designs that reflect the beauty of California's apple orchards. Apple looks great year-round, and pieces from this pattern make impressive gifts. Apple earthenware was proving so popular, it was continued to be made by the Wedge wood group after closing the Franciscan production facility in Los Angeles in 1984. English Franciscan Apple will be back stamped "Made in England". The Butter Dish measures 7 3/4" long and 3.5" in height. The butter dish is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or signs of use. It is back stamped.
