Over the years as I browse thru Vintage Shops, I have this urge to pick thru old Vintage Post Cards that once were the treasures of friends and family. It appears that Christmas Cards or Greetings were first started in England in the 1840's by Sir. Henry Cole and Queen Victoria sent the first official Christmas card in 1843. Christmas cards where important back then and are still important today. You feel remembered, it's the glue holding together the special feelings of the holidays. Displaying them and collecting old greetings is another way to bring the past to the present and your loved ones closer. Looking at the back of these old Christmas greetings or post cards is such a treasure...they once made someone's life special and filled it with love.
In our Newsletter from the past I always talk about my Vintage Ornament Collection. I found myself picking up these "days gone by ornaments" at garage sales, rummage sales and even
goodwill or salvation army! I have quite the collection and now I pick them up just to have more.
But the best way to display these "Lovelies" is to hang them on their own little tree. I keep my tree
on my Dining Room table for all to see and friends have picked up my idea and started their own collections. It's fun....and it will be talk of your home during Christmas.
But I didn't stop there...I found that my Milk Glass vases and candle holders needed a little color....so I added a nice touch of Red with my Vintage Ornaments.
Start collecting during the year and you will be amazed at your collection of Vintage
ornaments you will be able to display next year!
